Duties Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents while adhering to safety protocols. Handle laundry duties efficiently, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare standards. Use proper manual handling techniques for heavy lifting tasks related to cleaning supplies, furniture, or equipment to prevent injury. Maintain strict sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces and high-touch areas following infection control guidelines. Operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers and vacuum cleaners safely and effectively to ensure optimal floor care. Follow OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or exposure to hazardous substances. Support environmental services by ensuring all cleaning tasks meet healthcare infection prevention and control standards, contributing to a safe hospital environment. Requirements Prior custodial or janitorial experience in healthcare facilities or similar environments preferred. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to chemical handling, manual handling, and environmental safety protocols. Experience with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and chemical sprayers. Ability to handle chemical agents safely while maintaining proper documentation of chemical handling procedures. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors in a professional manner. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and stand or walk for extended periods during shifts. Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment housekeeping practices is a plus.
