About the Role The Lead Housekeeper assists the Director of Housekeeping in the supervision of the housekeeping and laundry staff and performs housekeeping duties throughout the community in accordance with established guidelines as required in community policy and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Perform cleaning duties according to schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) in assigned areas such as apartment homes, common areas, lounges, and offices. Sweep, dust, dust mop, and wet mop all floors and stairways; spot clean and vacuum floors, rugs, carpets and runners. Rotate runners in hallways and entryways. Collect trash and refuse from work areas and place in designated pick-up areas. Clean, sanitize, and polish both lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures and facilities; stock dispensers as necessary. Dust, wash, sponge mop, sanitizes and hand shampoo furniture; dust desk and floor lamps, clean and polish glass surfaces, woodwork, walls, and windowsills. Scrub bath and shower room tiles, wood work, window frames and sills. Maintain equipment and materials needed to perform work in a clean and orderly condition. Report repairs, supply and equipment needs to the Director of Housekeeping for replenishing. Establishes weekly housekeeping and laundry schedule for housekeeping and laundry services. Orders and keeps records of all janitorial, bathroom, and laundry supplies not to exceed budgetary guidelines. Inspects and makes ready all apartments prior to occupancy by residents. Responds promptly and courteously to resident requests for services. Responsible for controlling and monitoring daily check-in and check-out keys.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises housekeeping and laundry staff to perform cleaning duties in assigned areas, including apartment homes, common areas, public restrooms, lounges, and offices. Participates in the orientation and training of housekeeping staff. Coordinates and conducts regular in-services as needed. Creates and maintains a motivating environment that encourages employee involvement, creativity, and problem solving. Education Requirements and Experience Minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial cleaning operations, preferably in a hospital or nursing home environment. Demonstrates ability to supervise and direct staff. High school education or equivalent.
