Job Summary Kennel Assistant / Housekeeper Firgrove Veterinary Clinic - Puyallup, WA Join Our Team! Firgrove Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Kennel Assistant/Housekeeper to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, clients, and staff. Position Summary The Kennel Assistant/Housekeeper is responsible for the daily cleanliness and organization of the hospital while assisting with the care and comfort of hospitalized and boarding patients. This team member helps ensure Firgrove Veterinary Clinic maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and patient care. Primary ResponsibilitiesHospital Cleaning Clean and disinfect exam rooms between appointments. Sweep, mop, and sanitize all hospital floors. Clean treatment, surgery, kennel, and laboratory areas. Empty trash and recycling throughout the hospital. Restock paper products, soaps, and cleaning supplies. Maintain clean staff areas, bathrooms, and lobby. Follow all OSHA and infection-control protocols. Assist with laundry throughout the day. Kennel Duties Feed, water, and monitor hospitalized and boarding patients. Walk dogs and provide appropriate exercise and enrichment. Clean and disinfect kennels and cages. Change bedding and keep patients comfortable. Monitor patient appetite, urination, defecation, and behavior. Report any concerns immediately to the veterinary team. Hospital Support Wash and sterilize instruments as directed. Stock hospital supplies. Assist technicians with patient restraint when appropriate. Help maintain organization throughout the hospital. Assist with closing duties and end-of-day cleaning. Support the team wherever needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous animal care or veterinary experience is a plus but not required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments. Able to stand, bend, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the day. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Weekend and holiday availability may be required.
