Job Description
Position Summary The Hotel Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining clean, comfortable, and welcoming guest rooms and public areas throughout the hotel. This position plays an essential role in ensuring guests have a positive experience by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, hardworking, and takes pride in providing a clean and comfortable environment for every guest. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clean and maintain guest rooms according to hotel standards and established procedures. Make beds, change linens, replace towels, and replenish guest room amenities and supplies. Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and clean floors, carpets, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces. Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, mirrors, and countertops. Inspect guest rooms to ensure they are clean, properly stocked, and ready for guest occupancy. Report maintenance issues, damaged items, safety concerns, or unusual conditions to the appropriate department or supervisor. Remove trash and properly dispose of waste. Maintain cleanliness of hallways, elevators, stairways, public areas, and other assigned spaces. Clean and maintain meeting rooms, banquet areas, and other hotel facilities as assigned. Follow proper procedures for handling lost and found items and promptly report found property. Safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies according to manufacturer instructions and hotel procedures. Follow all health, sanitation, safety, and chemical-handling procedures. Maintain and organize housekeeping carts, closets, storage areas, and supplies. Replenish housekeeping supplies and communicate inventory needs to management. Assist with deep-cleaning projects and periodic cleaning assignments as needed. Respond professionally and courteously to guest requests and questions. Respect guest privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding guest information and activities. Work cooperatively with Front Desk, Maintenance, Laundry, and other hotel departments. Complete assigned rooms and duties within established timeframes while maintaining quality standards. Assist with special cleaning projects, event setup/cleanup, and other hotel needs as directed by management. Perform other duties as assigned. Guest Service Expectations Greet guests and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner. Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working throughout the hotel. Respect guest belongings and privacy at all times. Immediately communicate guest concerns or service issues to the appropriate supervisor or department. Qualifications Previous hotel housekeeping, custodial, or cleaning experience preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Professional and courteous demeanor. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Ability to push housekeeping carts and cleaning equipment. Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move supplies weighing up to approximately 25-50 pounds. Ability to perform repetitive cleaning motions, including vacuuming, mopping, wiping, scrubbing, and making beds. Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and follow appropriate safety procedures. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining established cleanliness and safety standards.
