Job Description
This is a Nassau County Civil Service Position. Full and Part-time positions available. Responsibilities Supervise students during bus transit, ensuring they follow safety rules and behave appropriately. Assist students with disabilities or special needs, providing necessary support for physical disabilities or behavioral challenges. Enforce school policies and transportation safety regulations consistently to promote a secure environment. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student behavior or concerns. Implement behavior management strategies and discipline procedures to address misconduct promptly and fairly. Support emergency procedures, including evacuation drills and responding appropriately to incidents or accidents. Maintain confidentiality of student information and handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion. Skills Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or special education needs preferred. Knowledge of child safety regulations, evacuation procedures, and transportation safety standards preferred. Strong conflict management and behavior management skills to handle challenging situations calmly. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, teachers, and emergency personnel. Familiarity with school policies, confidentiality protocols, and child childcare practices. Physical ability to assist students with mobility issues or disabilities as needed.
