Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Bus Aide provides one-on-one supervision and support for a student with specialized health and safety needs during transportation. The position is responsible for monitoring the student's safety and well-being and following established emergency and safety procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or the equivalent GED.

Complete District-required training related to the student's needs, which may include First Aid/CPR and student-specific health or emergency response training.

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

Create and maintain a positive and safe environment for students during transportation.

Ride the assigned bus/vehicle with the student and remain attentive to the student throughout transportation.

Become familiar with and follow the student's transportation safety plan, emergency procedures, and other applicable plans as directed by the District.

Ensure the safety of students during boarding and exiting the bus.

Follows District policies regarding student control and contact with parents and the public.

Prepare for and assist with emergency evacuations. Handle emergencies calmly and quickly.

Maintain required confidentiality regarding student information.

Report incidents that affect the safety of students.

Maintain professional and appropriate interactions with the student, family, transportation staff, and school personnel.

Perform other duties related to the safe transportation and supervision of the assigned student as directed.

Attends work regularly.

Work Schedule:

Monday -Friday- 2 hours per day

Specific hours to be determined based on the student's transportation schedule.

This position is based on the transportation and support needs of the assigned student. Hours and continued need for the position may change if the student's transportation or support needs change.
