ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Recreational Sports program assistant is an experience of a lifetime, right here in Chico! Chico State Recreational Sports offers exciting program opportunities for students to enrich their experience at Chico State. We are looking for individuals to join us as program assistants who will assist department staff in the day-to-day operation of the Wildcat Gaming Lobby, special events, and programming within Recreational Sports. The position will be responsible for working a majority of weeknights, as well as some weekends and weekdays. The incumbent must have the ability to work autonomously and effectively with college students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community. Manage and regularly inventory all Wildcat Gaming Lobby equipment. Manage and intervene, when necessary, in crisis and emergency situations. Enforce department and campus policies. Promote sportsmanship and foster good character among participants. Actively monitor events and programs. Interact with participants. Conduct training for Wildcat Gaming Lobby front desk attendants. Contribute suggestions that would improve the Wildcat Gaming Lobby and programs. Be able to envision foreseeable dangers and hazards that may affect participant safety. Be a positive role model for fellow employees and participants. Perform selected office work and other duties as necessary. Communicate professionally and courteously with all members of the Recreational Sports staff and community. Supervise and evaluate front desk attendants. Provide weekend and nightly supervision of events as needed. Assist with the scheduling of student staff. Assist with facility daily operations. Ensure staff has access to the facility. Make sure all necessary equipment is accessible. Assist staff with event setup.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have evening availability. Must be able to operate an electric cart safely around campus and in surrounding areas as needed. Maintain or acquire CPR/AED/First Aid certifications for adults, children, and infants. The employer will assist employees in obtaining certifications if new hires do not currently have valid certifications.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position. Candidate must be in possession of valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required. The candidate will be required to update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.
