RECREATIONAL SPORTS

Job Summary The Intramural Sports Head Supervisor position supports program operations and offers a great opportunity to stay active, develop leadership and communication skills, and become part of a supportive campus community. A person in this role also gain valuable experience in customer service, conflict resolution, time management, and teamwork skills that are transferable to any future career. Department-Specific Responsibilities Oversees daily intramural sport operations to ensure participant safety and a positive experience. Supervises Assistant Supervisors, Evaluators, and Officials during shifts and ensures proper staffing coverage and program delivery. Coordinates event management including facility inspections, equipment setup, and space readiness. Assists with game set up including moving goals and other equipment, tables, tents, coolers, etc. Responds to injuries and incidents and implements risk management protocols. Monitors staff performance and provides feedback and evaluations. Ensures compliance with all Recreational Sports policies and procedures. Completes reports, including incident reports, shift documentation, and facility inspections. Provides clear communication between staff, participants, and professional staff. Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required General knowledge at the high school level. Preferred Some college.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required 1 semester experience as a Recreational Sports Intramural Sports Assistant Supervisor. Preferred Experience in officiating, policy education, or staff evaluation roles. SKILLS Required Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership and staff supervision ability. Problem-solving and situational awareness. Professionalism, organization, and time management. Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations. Working Conditions / Demands These positions require standing for long periods of time and frequently moving about the workspace. Positions require working both indoors and outdoors and ability to move up to 50 pounds with assistance. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Additional Information This position is work-study eligible. Onsite work will take place at the following campus recreation facilities, depending on the needs of each sporting event: Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC) Bill Garrett Fieldhouse Sembower Recreational Sports Field Complex Additional facilities on and off campus as necessary based on activity Advertised Salary $14.75 per hour Work Hours 8-12 hours per week including evening and weekend shifts based on intramural schedules, but not to exceed 29 hours per week across all campus positions.
