Job Description
Health and Wellness Attendant

The Health and Wellness Attendant will greet members and their guests in a courteous and respectful way while utilizing the health and wellness center. This may include but is not limited to knowledge of all equipment in the Health and Wellness Center and knowledge of the Activtrax system, monitoring the fitness areas and upholding facility policies and procedures. Weekend availability is a must.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Health and Wellness Attendant is responsible for member satisfaction and retention through impeccable member service and practices that promote member engagement.The Health and Wellness Attendant will greet members and their guests in a courteous and respectful way while utilizing the health and wellness center. This may include but is not limited to knowledge of all equipment in the Health and Wellness Center and knowledge of the Activtrax system, monitoring the fitness areas and upholding facility policies and procedures. Weekend availability is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct fitness orientations on various cardio equipment and strength equipment using Activtrax system or manual program set-up
- Ability to instruct, guide, communicate and work with individuals of multi-level skills and capabilities
- Responsible for daily cleaning and/or maintenance of H&W Center as outlined in the Daily Cleaning Log.
- Responsible for knowledge of facility emergency procedures which include but are not limited to; emergency personnel listing, emergency communication equipment, first-aid consumables and AED equipment.
- Responsible for completing Incident and Accident Reports when necessary.
- Responsible for the safety of all members at all times, eliminate unsafe practices and enforce al H&W policies.
- Accountable for monthly shift assignments and flexibility of schedule including opening, closing, weekends and holidays.
- Arrange for appropriate substitutions in a timely manner, notifying the H&W Director/Asst. Director of outcome.
- Maintain timely communication with H&W Director/Asst. Director.
- Responsible for wearing a staff shirt and name tag while on duty.
- Participate in member recruitment and program promotions
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled. Mandatory meetings must be attended and failure to appear will be reflected on your evaluation.
- Must display an outgoing personality, enabling him/her to relate well with participants.
- Must support and exemplify the caring power philosophy and principles when in contact with members, participants and staff.
- Know emergency policies and procedures and be able to communicate to all members.
- Report on time and be prepared with materials and equipment and dressed in appropriate attire.
- Use of cell phones or any other electronic equipment is prohibited unless it is for emergency purposes only.
- Complete time sheets and submit to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Advise supervisor of any problems with the participants and equipment.
- Responsible for letting Supervisor know in advance if you cannot work your shift.
- Work in conjunction with other YMCA Staff at various times.
- Facilitate volunteer involvement when volunteers are present.
- Maintain identification of YMCA Staff on person (i.e. staff shirt and name badge)
- Attend all staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Position will demand an overall understanding of the fitness area
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must display an outgoing personality enabling him/her to relate well with members/participants.
- Flexible to work at Frederick and Natelli locations.
