Job Description
Position Summary This position is responsible for supervision and oversight of the STLCC fitness areas. Individuals holding this position must be punctual and have the ability to work independently and solve on-the-job issues. This person will be responsible for opening and/or closing the fitness areas; ensuring a clean and safe environment; identifying and reporting equipment functionality issues and maintenance needs to the facility supervisor; and overseeing fitness center attendants and student workers. Primary Duties Performed Actively supervise the fitness areas to include safety checks of the entire facility; identify and report facility maintenance needs and safety concerns. Perform opening/closing procedures of the fitness areas. Supervise fitness center attendants, lifeguards, and/or student workers. Monitor and maintain fitness equipment; resolve and/or report equipment needs. Ensure the fitness areas remain clean and organized; organize dumbbells, weight plates, and bars. Disinfect and clean equipment. Works with the Fitness Center Coordinator and Facility Supervisor to ensure all facility needs are being met. Provide customer service through; checking-in and interacting with patrons, providing basic guidance on how to use equipment, assisting with spotting, and answering questions. Act in a professional manner when involved in conflict management with patrons, students, and staff. Maintain a standard of performance on daily tasks. Provide effective utilization of space and equipment by maintaining a clean and tidy workspace, a safe functional environment, preparing fitness area and attendant workstations. Attend meetings and trainings as needed. Assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Experience Associate degree Prior supervisor or facility management experience. CPR and AED Certification or Basic Life Saving Certification from a nationally recognized organization OR ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment. Bachelor's degree in a related field Two (2) years relevant supervisor or facilities management experience. First Aid Certification Experience and knowledge of various fitness equipment. Interest or field of student related to health and fitness. Working Conditions Fitness Centers at multiple campuses Shifts may include
