Recreation Programmer Your Career, Your Community The City of Salisbury Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded Recreation Programmer to lead the planning and delivery of recreation programs and facility operations. In this role, you'll create memorable experiences for the people we serve, oversee key facilities, and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. If you enjoy working with the public, managing dynamic environments, and building programs that bring people together, we'd love to meet you. Program & Facility Oversight Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Salisbury Civic Center, including programs, rentals, customer service, opening and closing procedures, building coverage, room setups, staff coordination, and evening/weekend operations. Oversee the daily operations of the Dog Park, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors and their pets. Assist with coordinating the seasonal operations of Fred M. Evans Pools, including staff scheduling, safety standards, and day-to-day facility operations. Supervise, train, and support staff to provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, professional team environment. Events & Rentals Coordinate and staff Special Events, contributing to their planning, setup, and successful execution. Manage facility rentals, including scheduling and on-site coordination.
Note:
rental duties may extend beyond standard business hours. Maintenance & Operations Perform and coordinate some maintenance and facilities operations to keep space safe, functional, and inviting. Monitor facility conditions and promptly address issues or escalate as needed. Schedule Our standard hours of operation are: Monday

  • 6:00 PM Please note that rental duties may require work beyond standard business hours, and attendance at Special Events is required.
Flexibility working evenings and weekends is essential for this role. What We're Looking For A proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Experience supervising staff and managing programs or facilities is a plus. A commitment to safety, service, and community engagement. This position is operationally driven and requires flexibility in scheduling based on programs, rentals, staffing needs, aquatic operations, and special events. Rental and event assignments may extend until midnight or later, depending on operational needs. Evening and weekend availability is an essential function of this position.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in recreation, physical education, or related field and minimal experience in recreation program planning and implementation, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years Parks & Recreation work experience Must have a valid NC Driver's License Excellent customer service skills First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willing to attain certification in first six months CPRP certification preferred

87 (depending on experience)
Sign-On Bonus:
