One mission We're looking for a Recreation Specialist who is passionate about creating engaging experiences for young children and their families. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and oversight of recreation programs at the Fit For Fun Center for children from birth through five years of age and their adult companions. You will assist in managing recreational facilities, coordinating activities and services, supervising volunteers, and supporting daily facility operations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment; assisting with department special events; ordering program supplies; preparing attendance reports; handling daily cash transactions; and coordinating with community organizations and outside agencies to enhance programming. Typical Tasks Monitors facility operation by opening and closing facilities, assisting with maintenance of grounds and facility, reporting necessary repairs, coordinating facility use or rental, monitoring behavior of participants/facility users to ensure facility rules are followed, addressing safety issues and responding to incidents following guidelines and procedures, and managing gift shop and gift shop sales. Assisting in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and recreation programs to include the set-up and breakdown of programs, leading activities, coordinating and supervising volunteers, teaching classes, marketing events, managing risks, and assists with other recreation facilities and programs as needed. Performs administrative duties including the creation of registration forms and flyers, developing rules and regulations, scheduling activities, answering phones, greeting patrons, running cash register, maintaining attendance log, updating member files, making copies, distributing marketing materials, assisting with special events, giving tours, maintaining communication with other agencies and program participants, assisting with office duties and program scheduling as needed, and organizing and attending meetings as required.

Coordinating birthday party rentals Assist in the creation and organization of weekly art projects for early childhood development Performing cash drawer transactions accurately Performing light housekeeping and cleaning activities between play sessions Ability to work weekends, as the Center frequently books play sessions and rentals for Saturday QualificationsJOB REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and six (6) months of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Class C Driver's License CPR/First Aid and AED certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.Notes:

Health Benefits are offered to employees working at least 30 hours per week. Health Insurance- The City offers two options for health coverage: a standard PPO plan and a High Deductible Health Plan with an associated Health Savings Account. Coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following hire for employees and their eligible dependents. Both you and the City contribute to the overall cost of coverage. Dental Insurance

Retirement:
NC Local Government Retirement System- All benefits eligible employees make a mandatory 6% contribution every pay period. Deferred Compensation
- The city contributes an amount equal to 4.5% of the annual salary to a 401(k) plan regardless of employee contribution. Employees may choose to contribute additional money to the 401(k) or 457 deferred compensation plans, without a match from the City, within the IRS guidelines.
