Job Description

General Description :
Private residential high school in Upper Nyack, NY is seeking enthusiastic Recreation Specialists that will be responsible for leading various recreational activities to enhance the experience for our students.
Responsibilities:
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to implement and supervise a wide variety of recreation programs (i.e. arts and crafts, kickball, fitness programs, board games, scavenger hunts, etc.) Engagement techniques
  • expertise in creating inclusive environments and engaging children in meaningful activities Collaboration
  • the ability to work and work closely with peers to ensure programs run effectively and efficiently Adaptability
  • ability to adjust programs based on student needs and feedback from supervisors
Daily Job Functions:
Supervise daily after school recreation activities to ensure smooth operations. This may involve carrying out "lesson plans" for various structured activities (i.e. spikeball tournament, bingo night, disc golf, etc.) Engage with students during activities to promote participation, inspiration, and a positive environment Work with peers and other recreation staff to carry out activities Gather feedback from students in activities and report to Recreation Director As needed, supervise "off campus" events such as: hiking, pool trips, movie nights, etc. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions Perform other duties as assigned by

PM Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in recreation programs and activities and/or school settings Diverse background in personal and/or professional recreation experiences (i.e. coaching, physical education, camp counselor, fitness instructor etc.) Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
