Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:
: The Coordinator of Intramurals & Recreation is responsible for the planning, implementation, and assessment of intramural, recreational, and wellness programs. This position promotes student belonging and community engagement by providing inclusive, safe, and enjoyable opportunities that support physical activity, leadership development, and overall well-being.
Required Qualifications:
: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Event Management, or a related field. One to two years of professional experience coordinating recreation, sports, fitness, and/or wellness-based programs. Ability to supervise and motivate staff, volunteers, and participants. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within a specified period after hire). Ability to regularly work non-traditional hours including late nights and weekends. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have a valid New York State Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout recreational facilities for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications:
: Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Higher Education, or a related field. Three to five years of relevant professional experience including supervision of student level employees. Knowledge of intramural sports administration, recreational programming, outdoors-based programming, and event management within a college/university environment. Experience with budget management and risk assessment. Demonstrated success in program development and assessment driving participant engagement. Additional certifications in fitness instruction and/or outdoor recreation. Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the
Job:
: Develop, implement, supervise, and assess an intramural and recreation program designed to promote community along with student health and well-being to meet the diverse needs and interests of all students. Recruit, train, and supervise student staff to coordinate activities. Manage the college's recreational open skate and open swim programs. Coordinate the club sports program including student leadership development, ensuring safety training requirements are met, and providing overall risk management. In collaboration with Student Government, manage the Venture Outdoors shop and Boat House providing free student use of recreational equipment and coordinating camping, boating, hiking and other outdoor exploration trips. Provide oversight for open recreational areas such as the fire pit, grass volleyball court, disc golf course, bike fix-it station, outdoor gym/recreation space, and additional areas. Serve as a resource and liaison to student organizations and campus departments providing equipment and guidance for recreational/wellness-based programs. Assist Campus Life in the coordination, development and implementation of a comprehensive student activities program including large-scale, campus-wide initiatives and late-night events as needed.
