JOB SUMMARY
The Resident Assistant is responsible for facilitating program activities, ensuring Volunteers of America of Upstate New York's philosophy and practices are carried out in all areas of client care in conformance with US Probation, DHS, OTDA, HUD, and other relevant programmatic contracts.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES
Complete Intakes and checkouts in accordance with program procedures for residents entering or leaving the facility Thoroughly document any shift or client observations/activities as outlined per communication log procedures Maintains record-keeping responsibilities including client census and database system. Works closely with residents to assure effective communication between residents and program staff Helps residents understand and follow policies and program rules Promotes the protection and safety of residents, staff and site including ensuring rounds are completed and cameras are monitored. Provides crisis intervention and conflict management to residents. Conducts hourly rounds, inspections and overnight visual checks (if working the overnight shift) to ensure presence of residents. Performs laundry, room preparation, and housekeeping tasks, if needed Reports any issues or concerns to supervisor in accordance with divisional guidelines Ensures the accuracy of records and logs in accordance with regulatory and agency guidelines. Responsible for completing all duties and responsibilities of the RA role while on shift Notifies Supervision of any emergency situations immediately. Reports to Supervision any serious incidents or violations. Visually verify presence of all clients as well as ensuring accurate documentation of the presence of all residents by completing sign in/out sheets. Maintains safety and organization cleanliness of residence during shift Acts as a liaison with residents, outside agencies and staff within Volunteers of America of Western New York, Inc. guidelines Attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED equivalent required One year previous experience in Human Service, Residential, Security or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong interpersonal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Current Red Cross First Aid training certificate is required within the first two weeks of hire unless otherwise indicated VOA provides comprehensive benefits for eligible employees including: Competitive Pay Paid Time Off Health, Dental, Vision Insurance Company Paid Life & LTD Insurance 403(b), & more!
