Job Description

This is an entry-level, part-time position within the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Missouri City, widely recognized as the "Show Me City"—a dynamic and growing community known for its commitment to innovation, transparency, and exceptional public service . The Recreation Aide plays an important role in supporting the supervision and operation of Parks and Recreation facilities, programs, events, and daily activities, helping to ensure efficient operations while assisting both staff and patrons. Ensures that all Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures are explained to and followed by all patrons and guests. Enforces rules and policies as necessary. Opens and closes the facility at scheduled times; prepares and maintains attendance, reservations, and revenue reports and records. Performs light custodial duties; maintains facility equipment and supplies. Prepares the facility for programs and rentals by setting up tables, chairs, and equipment. Works scheduled departmental special events, including setup and breakdown. Coordinates with user groups and other departments to meet the needs of each program or event. Ensures cleanliness and safety by performing light custodial duties, conducting regular facility checks, and assisting with various facility projects as needed to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for patrons. Promotes and maintains excellent public relations and customer service by addressing public inquiries and unforeseen issues, communicating with customers through email or phone calls to resolve problems, answering questions, providing suggestions, and handling complaints. Assists with administrative duties at the front desk. Manages membership sales, program registrations, and facility reservations; maintains printed and/or digital material; Assists with the implementation of programs as needed; monitors the activities of guests and participants; maintains program and user visitation logs; Currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years of age , or High School Diploma/ GED. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed . All Parks & Recreation staff are r equired to work the
MANDATORY
annual Snow Fest Event (1 st Saturday in December) and the Independence Day Festival (July 4th) each year, as well as additional events throughout the year. Must be willing to maintain a general knowledge of the Parks and Recreation Department's programs, events, activities, and offerings. Must be willing to attend trainings, workshops, and staff development sessions. Ability to interact well with all types of people and convey a positive image for the City of Missouri City.
