RECREATION ASSISTANT - FLAG FOOTBALL REFEREE

Open Until Filled Employment Opportunity The Orem Recreation Department is currently hiring for Recreation Assistants for the flag football program. This is a non-benefitted position working under the direction of a Recreation Manager or Program Coordinator. Responsible for refereeing youth flag football games, help with minor field preparation and control of the overall game. Watch for and call all rule violations and be able to communicate reason for violation. Resolve problems and conflicts on site. Exhibit and emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship. Prepare reports and other written documents as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Due to scheduling and other job requirements, applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Requires a strong knowledge of flag football, including rules, scoring procedures, penalties and hand signals. Ability to move up and down the field with the flow of the game; could require some bending and lifting. Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to resolve problems and conflicts at game site. Ability to record game points and other required game information. Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions. A valid drivers license may be required. Applicants must be in compliance with Recreation department dress, personal appearance, and tattoo policy. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background investigation. Pay and Benefits $9.18 - $25.00 depending on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

SALARY WILL GENERALLY START AT THE LOWER END OF THE SALARY RANGE.

Schedule Youth leagues Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Thursday evenings. Season runs September through early November. Application Process Those interested in applying should submit their application online or to the Human Resources Office.
