The City of Hampton's Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to serve as Park Attendants . In this role, you'll support the daily operations of parks and recreational facilities, engage with visitors, and help maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all. No prior experience is required. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirements Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires effective communication with internal and external customers. The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules. Click here for a complete job description. Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities and campgrounds to maintain discipline and ensure safety. Oversees the daily operations of recreational facilities. Administers first aid according to prescribed procedures and notifies emergency medical personnel when necessary. Organizes, leads, and promotes interest in recreational activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies. Greets new arrivals to activities introducing them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encouraging participation; maintains records and collects fees as necessary. Monitors cleanliness of parks, shelters, and facilities; removes all trash, checks and cleans restrooms. Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.
