Job Description

A program instructor within our organization would be responsible for teaching assigned weekly classes, supervising participants, and following an agreed upon curriculum that meets pre-set goals for assigned classes. Instructors should maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere between all students, parents, and staff members. The pay for the role is negotiable, and the position is part-time. A program instructor reports to the Youth or Adult/Senior Recreation Supervisor.

  • Preparing class curriculum and participant goals prior to start date of program
  • Adjusting and preparing a weekly lesson plan
  • Taking attendance of participants
  • Teaching a variety of youth participants at weekly classes
  • Plans and coordinates with Recreation Supervisor for supplies, recitals, games, etc. depending on the nature of the program being taught
  • Attend any meetings as required by Recreation Supervisors or Parks and Recreation Director
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
  • Background in subject matter being taught
  • Teaching experience is preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
  • Friendly and welcoming personality
  • Ability to manage a classroom of students
  • Ability to adapt to all ages, levels, and abilities
  • Knowledge of program topic/skill
  • Great work ethic including integrity, self-motivation, and passion for working with others
  • Organizational and time-management skills
