Community is our purpose. Sports is our platform. Who are the Montgomery Biscuits The Montgomery Biscuits are the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays and a member of the Southern League. The Biscuits are one of the most distinctive brands in Minor League Baseball. The club plays at Dabos Park in downtown Montgomery, a unique ballpark incorporated into a historic train station and home to Fields of Change, an exhibit that celebrates the Negro Leagues and the role of Negro League players in the Civil Rights Movement. About the Role The Montgomery Biscuits and OnDeck Partners are seeking a talented, operations-focused leader to serve as General Manager. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the best brands in Minor League Baseball, operate one of its most unique ballparks, and help build a new model for operating minor league sports teams. The General Manager will be responsible for the Biscuits' local operations, with a particular emphasis on game-day execution, food and beverage, hospitality, stadium operations, and non-baseball events. The Biscuits operate their own food and beverage business, giving the GM direct responsibility for an important part of both the fan experience and the club's financial performance. The GM will own the club's operational P&L and directly lead the Biscuits' operations team. The GM will also provide local, dotted-line leadership to Montgomery-based sales and marketing employees who are part of ODP's centralized functional teams. Rather than building every capability independently at the club level, the GM will partner closely with ODP's centralized teams to execute strategies across marketing, promotions, sales, ticketing, and non-baseball events. Success will require an excellent collaborator who can bring together local knowledge and execution with the resources and expertise of the broader ODP organization. The GM will also serve as the Biscuits' primary relationship owner with the Tampa Bay Rays and MLB leadership and will maintain important local relationships with corporate partners, City officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and other key community stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Operations & Game-Day Experience Lead all day-to-day business and stadium operations for the Montgomery Biscuits. Own the club's operational P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance against financial targets. Deliver consistently excellent game-day execution, ensuring Dabos Park is welcoming, clean, safe, well-staffed, and operationally ready for every event. Partner with ODP's centralized marketing team to execute promotions, entertainment, and other elements of the Biscuits game-day experience. Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing local operations team and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage facility improvements and capital projects at Dabos Park. Food & Beverage, Premium & Hospitality Own the Biscuits' in-house food and beverage operation, including the full F&B P&L. Deliver a high-quality F&B experience across concessions, premium and hospitality areas, and hosted events. Develop relationships with local food and beverage partners that enhance the fan experience and connect the ballpark to the Montgomery community. Continually improve F&B quality, service, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Ensure effective staffing, preparation, inventory management, and execution across games and other stadium events. Non-Baseball Events Grow Dabos Park as a year-round entertainment and community destination. Identify, develop, and sell new non-baseball and hosted events at the ballpark. Build local relationships that generate new event opportunities. Partner with ODP's centralized capabilities on non-baseball event strategy, sales, marketing, and programming. Lead local planning and operational execution to deliver high-quality events. ODP & Commercial Partnership Partner closely with ODP's centralized sales, marketing, ticketing, and other functional teams to execute club strategies locally. Provide dotted-line leadership to locally based sales and marketing employees and help create an integrated, collaborative Biscuits organization. Ensure centrally developed marketing campaigns, promotions, ticketing programs, and sales initiatives are executed effectively in Montgomery. Bring local market insights, fan feedback, and operating knowledge into ODP-wide planning and decision-making. Share ideas and best practices with other clubs across the ODP network and leverage the experience and capabilities of the broader organization. MLB, Tampa Bay Rays & Community Relationships Serve as the primary Biscuits contact for the Tampa Bay Rays and MLB. Build a strong partnership with the Rays across player-development needs, facility requirements, and other affiliate matters. Maintain compliance with MLB's Player Development License (PDL) requirements and other applicable MiLB and MLB standards. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key City officials and other stakeholders related to Dabos Park and the Biscuits. Build senior relationships with important corporate partners, the Chamber of Commerce, and select civic and community leaders. Represent the Biscuits professionally and effectively in the Montgomery community and across Minor League Baseball. Qualifications & Skills Prior General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or comparable leadership experience in Minor League Baseball, professional sports, hospitality, or another live entertainment environment. Strong operations and/or food and beverage experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent experiences in complex, high-volume environments. Proven people leader and team builder who can attract, develop, motivate, and retain talented employees. Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to develop trusted partnerships with employees, corporate partners, government officials, community stakeholders, MLB, and an affiliated Major League club. Highly collaborative leadership style and demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and within a broader organization. Strong financial and business judgment, including experience managing budgets and operating performance. Comfortable being hands-on and solving problems in a fast-moving, event-driven environment. Entrepreneurial mindset and excitement about helping build a growing organization and a new operating model. Connection to Montgomery or the Southeast region is preferred. Ability and willingness to work the nights, weekends, and holidays required by a professional baseball and live-events schedule, including Biscuits home games.
