Full Job Description About Neighborhood Pizza Guy & Cafe Zoe:

Neighborhood Pizza Guy was started in a studio apartment during the height of the COVID pandemic in early 2021. Initially selling to neighbors via text message, the operation caught the eye of Cafe Zoe in Menlo Park. Opened in 2008, Cafe Zoe has been a neighborhood hub for coffee & pastries, as well as a community meeting place in the Willows neighborhood. Neighborhood Pizza Guy set up shop in the kitchen of Cafe Zoe in fall 2021, and operated after the cafe closed in the afternoons as a one man pizza shop slinging New York-style pies with California-inspired ingredients. Neighborhood Pizza Guy purchased the cafe in summer of 2023 and now operates both concepts in the location. Open 7 days a week, we serve up a unique product blend of coffee, matcha and chai drinks, as well as pastries, sandwiches made on house-baked focaccia, salads, and of course, beer, wine and pizza. Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cafe Manager to join our team. As Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for managing overall operations including maintaining barista and kitchen stations and staff, ensuring standards of quality, and facilitating kitchen throughput. This position reports directly to the owner and will include elements of menu development. Creativity, innovation and thinking outside the box are expected and encouraged. Duties:

• Lead the team on preparing and maintaining the food and barista stations
• Maintain oversight of operations to ensure proper fulfillment of orders and peak efficiency
• Manage personnel via intra-day interactions and weekly planning
• Coordinate with the owner to identify and meet key objectives
• Food preparation including: making dough for pizza and focaccia, chopping, mixing, organizing and labeling
• Prepare food to order for customers, including espresso, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items
• Ensure all orders are fulfilled in a timely manner
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including food preparation stations and cooking equipment
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
• Assist in the preparation of other menu items as needed
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
• Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and addressing concerns

Experience:

• Previous experience as a Assistant Manager, Cafe Manager, Kitchen Manager, or similar role is required
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Experience working in a pizzeria and/or in a coffee shop
• Inventory management and ordering
• Employee scheduling and team building
• Ability to take initiative and make decisions based on provided instructions
• Deep knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
• Familiarity with operating a Toast POS system is a plus
• Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating portion sizes
• Strong multitasking and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members
