$1,600 and up, depending on experience. Position Summary The Rink General Manager (GM) is a seasonal leadership position responsible for the successful operation of their assigned outdoor ice-skating rink. The GM serves as the primary on-site leader and reports directly to the Director of Rink Operations (DRO) . During the preseason, the General Manager is paid on an hourly basis and is required to accurately track and record all hours worked. Beginning one week prior to the rink's scheduled opening date, the General Manager will transition to the agreed weekly salary and will remain on salary for the remainder of the operating season. The preseason hourly rate will be calculated by dividing the agreed weekly salary by 40 hours. The General Manager oversees all aspects of daily rink operations while delivering an exceptional guest experience. This includes ensuring guest and employee safety, leading and developing the rink team, managing operational resources efficiently, and maintaining the facility's appearance and functionality in accordance with WBP policies and procedures. Assistant Managers (AMs) support the GM in daily rink operations and report directly to the General Manager. The GM is expected to maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence throughout rink operations, actively supporting employees and guest-facing operations while ensuring the rink is operated safely, professionally, and efficiently. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the ice rink, including facilities, equipment, and online ticketing systems.
  • Take ownership of the successful day-to-day operation of the assigned rink location.
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence throughout rink operations and actively support staff and guests.
  • Work with the DRO to recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and supervise Assistant Managers and rink staff.
  • Manage all operational areas of the rink and promptly escalate significant issues to the DRO.
  • Prepare and publish employee schedules at least two weeks in advance through the designated timekeeping system.
  • Manage staffing and labor resources efficiently during both peak and slower operating periods.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and PR teams on promotions, special events, private parties, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct required bi-weekly safety inspections and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order additional supplies as needed.
  • Address escalated guest concerns, complaints, and service issues professionally and work toward appropriate resolution.
  • Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the rink and its operational areas.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Follow and consistently apply WBP employment policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable workplace regulations.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate rink staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience while maintaining WBP service standards.
  • Manage employee scheduling, attendance, and timekeeping to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Oversee the daily workflow and performance of employees across all operational areas.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to support employee development.
  • Conduct, document, and follow up on corrective-action conversations in accordance with WBP policy.
  • Hold employees accountable for company standards, safety protocols, uniforms, schedules, attendance, and professional conduct.
  • Foster a positive, productive, and respectful workplace environment.
  • Lead by example and be willing to step into operational and guest-service roles when circumstances require it.
Leadership Expectations The General Manager is expected to lead by example, maintain a positive and professional attitude, and cultivate a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and exceptional customer service . The GM should be approachable to employees while maintaining the authority and judgment necessary to make decisions and hold the team accountable. Success in this role is measured not only by operational and financial performance, but also by the GM's ability to develop employees, maintain a safe and well-organized work environment, manage resources responsibly, solve problems effectively, and consistently deliver a memorable guest experience. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with company leadership and rink staff. Education & Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience managing, supervising, and developing employees is required.
  • A college degree is preferred; however, 2-3 years of relevant management or supervisory experience in customer service, hospitality, entertainment, restaurant, retail, attractions, events, or a related field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous ice-rink experience is helpful but not required .
Physical Requirements This is an active, primarily outdoor position requiring extended periods of standing and walking, occasional bending or crouching, and the ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds. Employees must be able to work in varying outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.   • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate but may increase during busy sessions, events, or special programs.
  • Work is seasonal, and hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • The position requires availability for days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Additional Requirements & Expectations
  • The General Manager is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during the operating season , with additional hours as operational needs require.
  • The GM serves as a primary point of contact for urgent operational matters and rink-related emergencies during the season and must be reasonably available when significant issues arise.
  • Any travel outside city limits during the season must be approved in advance by the DRO.
  • This position is subject to a satisfactory background screening.
  • The General Manager must comply with all WBP policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
