GENERAL MANAGER
Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 486 Position Summary The Fraternal Order of Eagles is seeking a motivated, organized, and community-oriented General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nonprofit fraternal organization. The General Manager is responsible for managing club operations, staff, volunteers, facilities, entertainment, member engagement, and financial accountability while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests. This position reports directly to the Board of Trustees and works collaboratively with officers, committees, volunteers, and members to ensure the successful operation of the Aerie and its facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities General Management & Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of the Social Room, Ballroom, and the 15th Street Pavilion. Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to implement organizational goals and enforce house rules and bylaws along with policies, and procedures. Operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication with the Board. Provide weekly operational updates and reports to the Board of Trustees. Adjust operating hours and staffing levels as necessary to accommodate special events and member activities. Foster a positive and welcoming environment for members, guests, staff, and volunteers. Personnel Management Recruit, seek trustee approval to hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline staff. Maintain personnel files. Prepare employee schedules and ensure adequate staffing for all operations and events. Conduct regular staff meetings to promote communication, teamwork, and accountability. Ensure employees comply with organizational policies and expected behaviors as defined in their documented work descriptions. Fiscal Responsibility & Cash Management Oversee all cash-handling procedures, including daily cash reconciliation and till management. Monitor expenditures and work to maximize operational efficiency. Assist with budgeting and financial planning as requested. Inventory & Vendor Management Maintain productive relationships with vendors and service providers. Monitor and manage inventory levels for bar supplies, food products, janitorial supplies, and operational necessities. Coordinate purchasing activities to ensure uninterrupted operations while controlling costs. Facilities Management Conduct weekly inspections of all club facilities and grounds. Ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and presentable at all times. With the assistance of the Board of Trustees coordinate repairs, maintenance projects, and contractor services as needed. Monitor compliance with health, safety, and building regulations. Coordinate with the Board of Trustees to Identify and address facility issues before they become significant problems. Health & Safety Compliance Conduct regular inspections of kitchen, bar, dining, event, and public areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Ensure staff receive required certifications and training, including TIPS certification and food-handling training where applicable. Enforce health regulations, safety policies, and house rules consistently. Maintain records of inspections, certifications, training, and incident reports. Stay informed regarding local, state, and federal health and safety requirements. Serve as the primary contact during health department inspections and regulatory reviews. Special Events Coordination Work closely with the Special Events Coordinator to support bookings and event planning. Ensure proper staffing, setup, and operational readiness for all events. Maintain records and historical data regarding event attendance, revenue, and performance to assist future planning. Entertainment Coordination & Promotion Collaborate with the Entertainment Committee to schedule entertainment and member activities. Assist with promoting events through approved marketing channels. Ensure entertainers, vendors, and events comply with organizational policies and contractual obligations. Support efforts to increase member participation and community engagement. Qualifications Previous management experience in hospitality, food and beverage, club management, nonprofit organizations, or a related field preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with budgeting, cash management, and financial reporting. Ability to supervise employees and volunteers effectively. Working knowledge of health, safety, liquor, and employment regulations. Proficiency with computers, scheduling software, spreadsheets, and basic office applications. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by club operations and events. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to perform facility inspections and oversee event setup and operations. Compensation Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
