As our Deli Assistant Manager (Back of House), you'll help lead the heart of the Deli—ensuring delicious, consistent food while supporting a fun, efficient, and safe kitchen. If you're passionate about food, teamwork, and high standards, we'd love to have you on board. What You'll Do Assist in planning and executing daily production goals to meet sales, catering, and special-order needs. Support scheduling and labor planning to ensure proper coverage and efficient operations. Monitor food production to maintain recipe accuracy, quality, and presentation standards. Oversee rotation, labeling, and storage for freshness, safety, and compliance with Health Department regulations. Help manage timecards, production logs, and daily kitchen documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen while ensuring staff follow sanitation protocols. Train and support kitchen staff in cooking techniques, recipes, and workflow efficiency. Collaborate with the Department Manager to identify process improvements and maintain consistency. Communicate clearly with team members through meetings, email, and Microsoft Teams. Jump in to help with prep, catering, or other tasks to keep the Deli running strong. What We're Looking For Experienced in food safety, cooking methods, and kitchen operations Strong leader who motivates, trains, and holds staff accountable Organized problem-solver who thrives in a busy kitchen environment Clear communicator with a collaborative, team-focused approach Adaptable to changing production needs and schedules Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams Committed to upholding Co-op values and maintaining a positive kitchen culture Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience required Professional kitchen or food production experience strongly preferred Valid Food Handler's Card required; Knife Safety and ServSafe certification preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required Physical Demands & Working Environment This role keeps you moving! You'll be on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, bending, and using step stools or ladders as needed. Expect a lively kitchen environment with plenty of collaboration and daily variety. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and used when working with equipment. It's a fast-paced, team-focused setting where no two days are the same.
