Guido's Fresh Marketplace is seeking an experienced and motivated Deli Manager to lead our Pittsfield deli department. We're looking for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about exceptional food and customer service, and can effectively manage both day-to-day operations and team development. The Deli Manager plays a key role in ensuring smooth department operations by overseeing staff performance, product quality, inventory management, customer satisfaction, and daily deli production. This position works closely with the Executive Chef and store leadership to maintain Guido's high standards while helping drive sales and operational success. At least 2 years of previous food service management or deli leadership experience required.
Schedule:
Full-time, with regular weekend and closing availability and the ability to work holidays as needed.
Salary Range:
$65,000-$70,000 annually, commensurate with experience Duties and Responsibilities Lead daily deli department operations Supervise, train, coach, and develop deli team members Create department schedules based on operational needs Work closely with the Executive Chef to execute daily offerings, seasonal menus, and holiday specials Oversee deli production, packaging, presentation, and merchandising Manage sandwich operations Monitor and place product orders with vendors Track inventory levels, product freshness, shrink, and stock rotation Manage customer special orders and ensure accuracy Maintain exceptional customer service standards Address customer concerns professionally and promptly Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Oversee deli equipment maintenance and department cleanliness Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize profitability Communicate department needs and updates with store leadership Key Skills Required Strong leadership and team development skills Previous deli, prepared foods, or food service management experience Excellent organizational and time management abilities Strong attention to detail Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and customer service skills Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Ability to problem-solve and make sound operational decisions Commitment to maintaining Guido's high-quality standards Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling Ability to work in varying temperatures, including walk-in coolers and freezers Frequent hand use including grasping and fine manipulation Guido's is a family-owned grocery and specialty market with two locations in the Berkshires.
