The GM represents The Maren Co. in the venue, leads the management team, protects company assets, and executes approved operating and financial standards. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Lead all restaurant and bar operations, including service, culinary coordination, beverage execution, staffing, scheduling, opening/closing, cash controls, maintenance, and guest recovery.
Own venue-level financial performance:
review sales, labor, cost of goods, controllable expenses, productivity, discounts/comps, cash variances, and operating profit; implement corrective action when results vary from plan. Recruit, select, onboard, train, coach, evaluate, discipline, and develop managers and hourly team members in partnership with HR and company leadership. Set clear daily and weekly priorities through pre-shifts, manager meetings, lineups, audits, and follow-up; maintain written accountability for action items and standards. Ensure exceptional guest experience by maintaining visible floor presence, monitoring service pace and product quality, resolving escalated concerns, and building repeat business. Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, labor, wage-and-hour, safety, anti-harassment, occupancy, licensing, and recordkeeping requirements applicable to the venue. Maintain effective controls over cash, deposits, POS access, inventory, purchasing, receiving, voids, comps, refunds, discounts, keys, security, and sensitive business information. Partner with culinary, beverage, marketing, events, finance, HR, facilities, and ownership representatives to execute promotions, private events, menu initiatives, repairs, and business-building plans. Qualifications & Requirements 5+ years of progressive restaurant leadership experience, including responsibility for a full-service restaurant, bar, or similarly complex hospitality operation; multi-unit or high-volume experience preferred. Demonstrated competency in P&L management, labor planning, inventory controls, coaching, guest recovery, and service standards. Working knowledge of POS, scheduling, inventory, reservations, payroll/timekeeping, and common restaurant technology systems. Food protection manager certification and responsible beverage service certification as required by law or company policy; must maintain any required local manager or alcohol credentials. Physical Demands & Work Environment Regularly stand and walk throughout the venue for extended periods; frequently bend, reach, climb stairs, and move between indoor/outdoor work areas. Frequently lift/carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier items using team-lift practices or appropriate equipment.
