Job Description

Banquet Manager Barton Hills Country Club - 5.0 Ann Arbor, MI Job Details Full-time 16 hours ago Qualifications Operations management Shift management Team development Bar experience Problem-solving Full Job Description Barton Hills Country Club is seeking a hands-on, hospitality-driven Banquet Manager to lead the execution of our banquet, catering, golf, and member events. This position will be the primary operational leader for events involving large groups of members and guests gathering to dine, drink, and celebrate. Events range from weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties to golf outings, member events, and large Club functions. The Banquet Manager will take ownership of event execution from setup through breakdown while building and leading a dedicated banquet service team. During periods of lighter banquet activity, this position will work alongside our Food & Beverage leadership team supporting daily restaurant operations. What You'll Own
  • Lead the operational execution of weddings, private events, golf outings, member events, and Club functions.
  • Review BEOs, timelines, floor plans, menus, staffing needs, and special requests prior to events.
  • Coordinate with the Catering & Events Director, culinary team, and other Club departments to ensure seamless execution.
  • Lead event setup, pre-shift meetings, service, transitions, and breakdown.
  • Build, train, schedule, and develop a core banquet team of approximately 6-10 servers and bartenders.
  • Maintain high standards for hospitality, organization, appearance, and service.
  • Anticipate challenges and make confident decisions during high-volume events.
  • Take ownership of the guest experience and resolve service issues when they arise.
Beyond Banquets While banquets and events are the primary area of ownership, this position is part of the overall Food & Beverage management team. When event volume allows, the Banquet Manager will support restaurant operations by serving as Manager on Duty, leading service, assisting with pre-shifts, handling member requests, and stepping into the operation wherever needed — whether that means assisting the host stand, running food, supporting the bar, or helping the team through a busy service. Your primary ownership is banquets and events, but you are a Food & Beverage Manager first. What We're Looking For We are looking for an organized, confident hospitality professional who enjoys leading from the floor. The right person takes ownership, communicates well, stays composed during busy services, develops strong employees, and isn't afraid to jump in alongside their team. Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality management experience is preferred. Experience leading high-volume food and beverage service and familiarity with BEOs and event execution are strongly valued. This position requires availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and a schedule that varies based on Club and event needs.
