General Manager in Training (GMIT) McDonald's - [Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti] Full-Time | Management Development Position Ready to Run a Restaurant? We'll Help You Get There. This position is designed for someone who has leadership or management experience and wants to develop the skills necessary to become a McDonald's General Manager . You will receive hands-on training in restaurant operations, people leadership, food safety, customer service, staffing, financial performance, and McDonald's operating systems. This is not a classroom-only training position. You will work alongside experienced restaurant leaders and will be expected to actively lead shifts, coach employees, solve problems, and learn how to manage the day-to-day operation of a high-volume restaurant. What You'll Learn & Do During the training program, you will learn to: Lead restaurant shifts and daily operations Coach, develop, and hold employees accountable Recruit, interview, hire, and retain great employees Build effective crew and management schedules Maintain McDonald's standards for quality, service, cleanliness, and food safety Improve customer satisfaction and resolve customer concerns Manage labor, food cost, waste, inventory, and other controllable expenses Understand restaurant sales and profit performance Execute new products, promotions, and operational initiatives Maintain proper staffing levels for all dayparts Develop managers, crew trainers, and future leaders Conduct restaurant walks and identify opportunities before they become problems Maintain a safe, respectful, professional workplace Learn the administrative and operational responsibilities required to successfully run a McDonald's restaurant What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: A strong leader who enjoys developing people Dependable and able to hold others accountable Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Organized and able to manage multiple priorities Willing to learn and accept coaching Comfortable making decisions and solving problems Focused on both people and business results Able to communicate professionally with employees and leadership Flexible and willing to work different shifts while completing training Restaurant management experience is strongly preferred. McDonald's management experience is a plus, but we will consider experienced managers from other restaurant, hospitality, retail, or high-volume customer-service businesses. Schedule Expectations This is a full-time management position. General Managers must understand and be able to lead the restaurant during different parts of the business. During training, your schedule may include opening, daytime, evening, and weekend shifts so that you gain experience managing the entire restaurant operation. This is not a Monday-Friday, daytime-only management position. Career Path Our goal is to develop successful GMITs into General Managers responsible for operating their own McDonald's restaurant . Advancement is based on successful completion of training, demonstrated leadership ability, operational performance, and the availability of an appropriate General Manager position. For individuals who perform well, becoming a General Manager does not have to be the end of the career path. Our organization believes in developing leaders who may eventually be capable of taking on additional restaurant or multi-unit leadership responsibilities.
