Job Summary Assistant Director of Dining Services - Cafe Manager Cranbrook Schools | Bloomfield Hills, MI Join Cranbrook Schools and lead two unique, trend-forward café concepts on a beautiful campus in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This hands-on leadership role oversees the popular Simply Pure café and the café within the Cranbrook Science Museum, with approximately 75% of your time focused on growing and elevating the Simply Pure concept. From fresh smoothies and scratch-made offerings to the latest food and beverage trends, you'll help create an exceptional guest experience while leading a small team, driving engagement, and bringing new ideas to life. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a café, coffee shop, deli, or retail foodservice background who enjoys innovation, creativity, and building a strong team culture. This position is perfect for an emerging leader ready to take the next step in their career. You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards, coaching and holding team members accountable, and ensuring smooth daily operations across both locations. While the cafés offer a fun, low-stress environment, you'll also have the support and resources of a premier dining program that serves five boarding schools, extensive catering operations, and a vibrant campus community. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with a very occasional evening or weekend based on business needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with the Chef and management team in creating nutritious and top quality food. Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams. Maintains excellent relationships with the client. Manages, trains, and develops associates. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1 to 3 years of food service management experience. Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations. Strong leadership and communication skills. Financial experience and business acumen skills. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet. Associate's degree is preferred. Apply to Chartwells Schools today!
