Restaurant General Manager Buzztees.com Royal Oak, MI Job Details Full-time $50,000•$65,000 a year 4 hours ago Benefits Paid training Paid time off Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Vendor relationship building Teamwork Performance management Team development Attention to detail Recruiting Full Job Description General Manager•
The Great Dane Pub Location:
Downtown Royal Oak, MI Job Type:
Full-Time Salary:
$55,000•60,000 per year + Quarterly Performance Bonus Lead the Great Dane. The Great Dane Pub is a British-inspired neighborhood pub in the heart of downtown Royal Oak, combining elevated pub food, a strong bar program, and genuine hospitality in a lively, high-volume environment. We're looking for an experienced General Manager who wants to take ownership of a restaurant — not simply manage a shift. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who knows how to build a team, create accountability, deliver exceptional hospitality, control costs, and grow sales. This is not a desk job. Our General Manager should be visible. On the floor. Talking with guests. Coaching employees. Watching ticket times. Checking the bar. Looking at labor. Solving problems before they become problems. If that's how you operate, we'd like to meet you.
Compensation Base Salary:
$55,000•60,000 per year, based on experience Plus Quarterly Performance Bonus We believe great operators should be rewarded for great results. In addition to base salary, the General Manager will be eligible for a quarterly performance bonus based on clearly defined restaurant performance goals, including: Sales growth Labor and cost control Food and beverage cost Guest satisfaction Operational standards Overall restaurant profitability The better the restaurant performs, the greater the opportunity for the General Manager to earn. What You'll Own As General Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall day-to-day performance of The Great Dane Pub.
That includes:
Leading, coaching, scheduling, and holding the FOH and BOH teams accountable Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining great employees Building schedules that provide excellent service while controlling labor costs Managing labor percentages and adjusting staffing as business levels change Working closely with kitchen leadership to control food cost, waste, portioning, and execution Maintaining high standards for food quality, ticket times, cleanliness, and hospitality Being highly visible and engaged on the floor during peak periods Handling guest concerns quickly and professionally Ensuring opening, closing, cash-handling, and operating procedures are followed Managing inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and controllable expenses Reviewing sales, labor, food cost, beverage cost, and other key restaurant performance numbers Identifying opportunities to increase traffic, average check, repeat business, and overall sales Helping execute promotions, special events, community events, and local marketing initiatives Developing managers, bartenders, servers, hosts, and support staff into a strong and accountable team The Great Dane Experience Our philosophy starts with five simple expectations: Warm Welcome. Fast Seating. Drinks Fast & Cold. Food Hot & Fast. Clean Bathrooms. Simple doesn't mean easy. We believe great restaurants win by consistently executing the fundamentals while creating genuine connections with their guests. Our General Manager will be responsible for turning these expectations into habits throughout the restaurant. That means strong menu knowledge, suggestive selling, attention to detail, consistent service touch points, urgency, cleanliness, teamwork, and genuine hospitality. These shouldn't just be standards written in a training manual. They should become the culture. Who We're Looking For Our ideal candidate: Has restaurant management experience; GM or AGM experience strongly preferred Has experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant or bar environment Understands restaurant financials, including labor %, food cost, beverage cost, and prime cost Knows how to build and manage an effective schedule Can recruit, train, motivate, and retain strong employees Is comfortable holding people accountable and making difficult personnel decisions when necessary Can coach employees without micromanaging them Has strong organizational and communication skills Understands that exceptional hospitality and strong financial performance go hand-in-hand Is comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak restaurant hours Is willing to jump in wherever necessary Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done What Success Looks Like We're not looking for someone simply to keep the restaurant running. We want someone who can make it better. A stronger team. Better hospitality. Faster service. Cleaner operations. Controlled labor and food costs. More repeat guests. Growing sales. And a restaurant that operates with consistency, urgency, and accountability. If you're the kind of restaurant leader who walks into a busy dining room and immediately notices what needs attention — and then does something about it — we want to hear from you. Requirements Restaurant management experience required. Full-service restaurant management experience strongly preferred. Must have flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak restaurant hours. The Great Dane Pub•
