Our team—staff, volunteers, and community partners—works together to serve guests with dignity, respect, and care. The Role We're seeking a Food Shelf Manager to lead and manage staff, oversee daily operations, coordinate volunteers, and manage food inventory and distribution. This position develops and implements SOPs, manages the daily workflow of employees and volunteers, provides coaching and discipline as needed, orders food from partner organizations three times per week, and reports directly to the Executive Director. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to train, support, and schedule volunteers. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of food shelf operations, including food handling, inventory management, volunteer workflows, and daily opening/closing routines. Manage and supervise staff and volunteers , including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, coaching, and disciplining when necessary to ensure policies and standards are followed. Manage the daily workflow of staff and volunteers , ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Report regularly to the Executive Director on operations, inventory, volunteer engagement, staffing issues, and any other operational matters.
Manage donations:
categorize, log, store, and rotate food items to minimize waste. Order food from partner organizations three times per week and coordinate deliveries. Oversee daily operations—stocking, organizing, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Ensure compliance with food safety standards and organizational policies. Foster an inclusive and respectful environment for staff, volunteers, and guests. Qualifications Experience in food pantry, nonprofit, or community-based program management preferred. Demonstrated experience managing employees, including coaching, supervising, and addressing performance or behavioral issues. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Knowledge of food safety standards and inventory management practices. Comfortable using technology for scheduling, tracking, and reporting. Committed to working respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks related to stocking, sorting, and organizing food. Physical Requirements On your feet for extended periods. Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds . Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while stocking and sorting food. Assist with loading and unloading trucks and organizing storage areas. Comfortable working in varying temperatures (coolers, freezers, loading areas).
