Job Description

The Assistant Manager at
TACO NACO KC
is a key operational leader and hospitality ambassador. You support the General Manager in driving business success, ensuring operational excellence, and creating a welcoming experience for every guest and team member. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to team development.
Your responsibilities include:
Leadership, Training, and Development:
Attract, train, and develop great hospitality professionals. Support the General Manager in recruiting, training, and developing team members. Motivate and inspire the team to deliver friendly, attentive, and efficient service every day. Maintain a strong presence on the floor during service to support guest-facing and kitchen operations. Help build a pipeline of strong leaders and promote internal talent as

grows. Provide clear, structured feedback and coaching to team members. Administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action when necessary. Lead by example by being present during peak business periods, including weekends, holidays, and special events. Help create and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and team-focused workplace.
Operational Excellence:

experience. Ensure
TACO NACO
KC's hospitality and brand standards are consistently upheld in every guest interaction. Oversee daily operations in partnership with the General Manager, including food safety, cleanliness, organization, and shift execution. Monitor kitchen and service operations to maintain food quality, order accuracy, ticket times, and efficiency. Support facility maintenance and ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, and guest-ready. Assist in developing and improving operating procedures that strengthen the guest and employee experience.
Business Management:
Take ownership of the restaurant's success. Help manage administrative tasks, shift reports, inventory, scheduling, cash handling, and compliance requirements. Assist in achieving goals for labor costs, cost of goods sold, waste, and profitability. Support preventive-maintenance programs and cost-conscious equipment care. Help achieve financial goals and operational KPIs. Use systems such as Toast, 7shifts, and MarginEdge to support efficient restaurant operations.
You should have:
3+ years of restaurant or hospitality experience, including leadership experience and exposure to both front- and back-of-house operations. Strong guest-service skills and the ability to deliver genuine hospitality. Basic financial knowledge and an understanding of labor, inventory, waste, and cost management. Proficiency with administrative tasks and restaurant-management software. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety, workplace compliance, labor requirements, and health and safety guidelines. A passion for great food, hospitality, and people.
A strong candidate is:
Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred. Resourceful, practical, and a creative problem-solver. Inclusive, empathetic, and committed to leading by example. Positive, adaptable, and enthusiastic. A clear communicator and active listener. Comfortable stepping into any station when the team needs support. Physical expectations of the position include: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead as needed. Comfort working in environments with heat, humidity, cold storage, and exposure to common allergens, with or without reasonable accommodation. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to supervise food quality and safety and handle restaurant equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
