Chicken Salad Chick Morganton is looking for a positive, dependable, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in serving high-quality food, creating an organized kitchen, and helping employees grow. Unlike many restaurant management positions, our concept offers more manageable operating hours and a cleaner kitchen environment. We are currently closed on Sundays, and our restaurant closes at 8:00 p.m., allowing our managers to have a more predictable schedule and better work-life balance than many traditional restaurant roles. You will oversee daily kitchen operations, guide the prep team, maintain food quality and safety standards, and ensure the kitchen is organized and prepared for each day. This is a hands-on leadership position. You will work alongside your team, provide clear direction, recognize strong performance, and coach employees when improvement is needed. We are looking for someone who can maintain high standards while creating an encouraging environment where employees feel supported and know what is expected of them. Primary Responsibilities Lead and support the kitchen and food-preparation team Organize daily production and assign prep responsibilities Ensure food is prepared according to Chicken Salad Chick recipes and quality standards Maintain appropriate production levels based on projected sales and business needs Train, coach, and develop new and existing kitchen employees Build a positive kitchen culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and respect Recognize employees for strong performance and provide constructive coaching when needed Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen Ensure proper food storage, labeling, dating, rotation, and temperature procedures Monitor food quality, portioning, waste, and inventory usage Assist with inventory counts, product ordering, deliveries, and product rotation Help manage kitchen labor and staffing based on business needs Ensure opening, shift-change, and closing responsibilities are completed correctly Communicate staffing, equipment, product, and operational needs to the General Manager Support restaurant goals related to food cost, labor, cleanliness, quality, and guest satisfaction Step in and assist the team during busy or high-volume periods The Ideal Candidate Our ideal Kitchen Manager is someone who: Enjoys leading and developing a team Is organized, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership Leads by example and is willing to work alongside employees Communicates clearly and professionally Can provide accountability while treating employees with respect Remains calm and solution-focused during busy periods Notices details and takes pride in food quality and cleanliness Can balance productivity, preparation, and team morale Values consistency and follows established procedures Qualifications Previous kitchen leadership, restaurant management, or high-volume food-preparation experience preferred Experience training, directing, or supervising employees Understanding of food-safety and sanitation practices ServSafe Manager certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Dependable attendance and reliable transportation Availability to work a combination of opening, daytime, evening, and Saturday shifts Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical responsibilities of a restaurant kitchen Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds as needed Schedule Chicken Salad Chick Morganton is currently open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Opening managers generally arrive around 7:30 a.m. Closing managers typically leave around 9:00 p.m. when the team works efficiently and all closing responsibilities are completed properly. The restaurant is currently closed on Sundays, making Sundays a guaranteed day off at this time.
