Job Description

Job Summary The Training Manager for Ugly Dumpling is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of training programs with a focus on front-of-house (FOH) operations and supporting new restaurant openings (NROs) across multiple locations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining consistency in guest experience and service standards by ensuring that FOH teams are well-trained and equipped to deliver exceptional service. The Training Manager will also lead the planning and execution of training initiatives for NROs, ensuring smooth and successful launches. Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage comprehensive FOH training programs for all new and existing employees, including hosts, servers, cashiers, and other FOH roles. Develop and deliver training materials, manuals, and workshops focused on guest service, operational procedures, and company policies. Conduct regular assessments and audits of FOH performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing feedback and coaching to restaurant teams. Ensure FOH employees are trained to consistently deliver high-quality guest experiences that align with Ugly Dumpling's brand standards. Lead training initiatives together with Regional Manager for new restaurant openings, including pre-opening training schedules and on-site support. Collaborate with NRO teams to ensure training programs are effectively rolled out and adhered to during new restaurant launches. Manage the training and onboarding process for new FOH employees in newly opened locations to ensure they are operationally ready on opening day. Act as a point of contact during NROs to provide hands-on training and guidance, troubleshooting challenges and ensuring smooth operational launches. Continuously evaluate and improve training programs to ensure they are up-to-date with industry trends, customer expectations, and company standards. Collaborate with restaurant managers to identify training needs and tailor programs to address specific performance gaps. Track and report on training outcomes, including employee performance, retention, and customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain training materials, checklists, and guides for ongoing use by restaurant management teams. Work closely with the Director of Operations, General Managers, and restaurant leadership teams to align training programs with business goals and operational needs. Coach and mentor restaurant managers and FOH staff on leadership and service best practices. Ensure consistency in training across all locations by acting as a resource and support for restaurant managers in implementing training programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience 3-5 years of experience in a training role within the restaurant or hospitality industry. Experience in FOH operations with a strong understanding of guest service, POS systems, and restaurant workflows. Experience with new restaurant openings (NROs) and developing training programs for fast-casual or full-service restaurant concepts. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate team members. Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously. Ability to travel regularly to support new restaurant openings and provide on-site training at various locations.
