Job Description

General Manager Pierogi Boys — Ridgewood, Queens, NYC $75,000/year + private-event commission Pierogi Boys is a modern Polish restaurant and specialty market in Ridgewood, Queens. Our space brings together a neighborhood restaurant and bar with a Polish and Eastern European-influenced specialty grocery, cheese and charcuterie counter, and sandwich program — all under one roof. Since opening our Ridgewood location, Pierogi Boys has received recognition from The Michelin Guide, New York Magazine, and Eater , while remaining very much a neighborhood restaurant at heart. Our focus is great food, thoughtful wine and drinks, and warm, unpretentious hospitality. We're looking for a hands-on General Manager to lead the front-of-house operation across the entire Pierogi Boys space — both the restaurant and market. This is a great role for someone who enjoys being present on the floor, building relationships with regulars, developing and managing a strong team, and helping an independent restaurant grow. You'll work closely with the owners and chef and have plenty of room to bring your own ideas to the operation. What you'll do Lead the day-to-day FOH operation of the restaurant, bar, and specialty market. Hire, train, support, and develop FOH team members. Create and manage weekly FOH staff schedules. Be an active presence on the floor, maintain a warm and welcoming guest experience, and cultivate relationships with regulars. Make sure service and daily opening and closing procedures run smoothly. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining room, making sure the team has the supplies and tools they need and is familiar with current menus, offerings, and service standards. Work closely with the owners and chef on service, events, menu changes, and new ideas. Collaborate with the Bar Manager to develop and evolve the beverage program. Monitor labor and other key operating costs. Handle guest feedback and help the team solve problems as they arise. Ensure compliance with NYC/NYS Department of Labor, Health Department, and other applicable operational requirements. Manage private-party inquiries, proposals, bookings, and event execution. Help grow our private-event business through local relationships, outreach, and creative ideas. Private events Private events are an area we're excited to grow, and we want our GM to share in that growth. In addition to the base salary, this position includes commission on private events , with a higher commission for new business generated directly by the GM and additional commission for converting incoming inquiries into confirmed events. Full commission details will be discussed during the interview process. Who we're looking for You don't need to come from a huge restaurant group. We're more interested in finding someone who understands hospitality, knows how to lead people, and genuinely enjoys being part of an independent neighborhood restaurant. Ideally, you have: 2+ years of restaurant management experience , either as a GM or in a strong AGM/management role. Experience leading and scheduling a FOH team. The ability to recognize where systems are needed and create simple, effective processes that make day-to-day operations run smoothly. Strong communication and organizational skills. A genuine interest in food, wine, and hospitality. An understanding of restaurant labor and operating costs. The ability to stay organized while also being present with guests and staff. Private events, catering, or business-development experience is a plus. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, kind, and excited to take ownership of the guest and employee experience. Compensation & benefits $75,000 annual salary , with flexibility depending on experience. Private-event commission with additional earning potential. Performance and salary review after six months. Benefits package available. 20% employee discount at the Pierogi Boys restaurant and market. Complimentary employee meal every shift. One complimentary shift drink (beer or wine). Opportunity to have a real voice in how an independent and growing restaurant operates. About Pierogi Boys Pierogi Boys started with a simple idea: to share the Polish food we grew up with while presenting it in a way that feels current, fun, and at home in New York. Today, our Ridgewood location combines a full-service restaurant and bar with a specialty market, all in one space. We're an independent, owner-operated business, and we're looking for a GM who wants to grow with us and become an important part of what we're building.
Location:

We'd love to hear about your management experience, what kind of restaurant environment you enjoy working in, and any experience you have with private events or growing restaurant business.
