The Bar Manager is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining strong cost controls, driving revenue, developing the bar team, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on management position that combines bartending, team leadership, beverage development, inventory management, administrative responsibilities, and special event execution. Duties Oversee daily bar operations, including beverage preparation, cocktail development, recipes, steps of service, cleanliness, and guest interactions to ensure consistent quality and efficiency. Bartend regularly, with an emphasis on working lower-volume shifts that allow time for administrative responsibilities and planning while maximizing strong bartender coverage during peak nights. Manage staff scheduling, training, coaching, and development to maintain a knowledgeable, motivated, and high-performing team. Oversee beverage inventory and purchasing, including liquor, ingredients, garnishes, and bar supplies, while controlling waste and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Maintain and update the wine list based on current inventory and product availability. Prepare for and lead bar operations during property buyouts and La Caille experiences, including Wine Jubilee, Jazz and Concert Nights, Murder Mystery, Après Ski, and other special events. Coordinate with the Events team on beverage needs and liquor menus for private dining and events, including creating accurate product pull sheets for bartenders. Develop an in-depth knowledge of La Caille Winery's estate wines and conduct wine tastings for small groups of approximately 6-14 guests one to two times per week. Complete monthly liquor inventory counts using Excel and submit accurate inventory reporting to Accounting. Utilize Focus POS for accurate order processing, cash handling, sales tracking, and operational reporting. Monitor beverage costs, purchasing, waste, and product usage to identify opportunities to improve profitability. Ensure compliance with Utah alcohol regulations, food safety standards, and health department requirements. Lead bar service during high-volume periods, coordinate team responsibilities, maintain service standards, and promptly resolve guest concerns. Serve as closing manager on Friday and Saturday evenings, ensuring the restaurant and bar are properly closed, secured, and locked at the end of service. Collaborate with Restaurant, Events, Kitchen, Winery, Marketing, and Management to support property-wide operations and revenue opportunities. Qualifications Current Utah SIPS certification, DABS Manager Training certification, and Food Handler Permit required. Proven bartending experience with strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beverage preparation, and recipe development. Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a restaurant, bar, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred. Strong understanding of inventory control, ordering, beverage cost, waste management, and basic financial accountability. Experience with POS systems and proficiency in cash handling and financial reconciliation. Comfortable working with Excel and other administrative and operational software. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and hold team members accountable. Highly organized and adept at managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Collaborative and willing to work across departments to support the overall success of La Caille. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and key holidays, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Valentines Day, Easter, and Mother's Day. Schedule Wednesday 1:00 PM-9:00 PM Thursday 3:00 PM-9:00 PM Friday 3:00 PM-close (approx. 10:00pm) Saturday 3:00 PM-close (approx. 10:00pm) Occasional additional shifts may be required on other days for scheduled special events, property buyouts, or La Caille experiences.
