We are reaching out to folks with leadership experience and desire to support and develop team members! The ideal candidate is anyone who is kind and self-motivated, who is interested in coffee and in professional growth, who would further deepen our diversity, and who would like to teach us what they know.
Boon Boona Coffee began its journey over 10 years ago by procuring quality African green coffee for the East African community. In 2016, we started roasting our own coffee and in the beginning of this year, our brick & mortar roastery/cafe came to life. On the green coffee side of the things we are committed to supporting transparent, equitable and sustainable coffee practices. In our roastery/cafe, we are eager to nurture a culture that is empathetic, cooperative, arts & science-driven, and community oriented. We highly value each member's contribution to the Boon Boona culture, and we encourage them to introduce their coffee and non-coffee passions and interests to us.
We are dedicated to empowering our employees. Boon Boona Coffee has established guidelines that structures how and when the support for professional growth is provided, so it is transparent and accessible to all. Some areas of the professional development opportunities include:
Guidance and financial support to participate in coffee competitionsCoffee sensory evaluation (cupping) training that is designed with CQI's Q Grader curriculum in mindFinancial and logistical support for extra-curricular projects when possible it does not have to be about coffee, yet it has to be about something you care.
Position's basic responsibilities:
Lead with a welcoming and supportive nature to guests and TeammatesRecruit, hire, train, supervise, and coach TeammatesSupport with Manager and Barista duties to ensure great customer serviceOversee and support staffing and scheduling at all cafesOversee all Cafe flow and processes Develop new processes for cafe flow, pars, waste managementOversee appointments and services for all cafesDevelop and execute customer engagement initiatives, events, and in-store experiences that strengthen the brand and encourage repeat visits.
Support staffing and coordination of events and pop-upsLead the development and execution of coffee education programs, ensuring consistent beverage quality, recipe adherence, and coffee standards across all cafes. Handle money with accuracy and accountability, review accuracy of Teammates, break change from local bankCommunicate clearly and directly with Director of Operations about any issues that ariseEnsure compliance with L&I safety and Health Department regulationsEnforce policies and proceduresEnsure cafes are complying with local, state and federal regulationsSeek opportunities for professional growthPhysical components and requirements of this position:
Outstanding leadership and communication skills4 plus years of Caf Management experience and demonstrated experience managing staff and retail operationsPassionate about delivering excellent customer serviceWillingness to accept feedback and have a can do attitude.40 hours per weekPerform reviews with Managers and BaristasStanding for extended periodsStooping frequentlyRepetitive motionsOccasionally lifting up to 30-40 lbsCompensation & perks:
