The primary focus of this position is to service and prepare the daily meal. This position is responsible for sanitation and safety of the site kitchen and all records required for the meal program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This listing is representative of the duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not to be construed as all inclusive: Assists with receiving of bulk food to be served by appropriate portion control based on a Heart Healthy Menu approved by the Dietitian. Some cooking and preparation on site is necessary. Coordinates preparation of Congregate and Homebound meals. Ensures proper use of safety and sanitation procedures such as temperature monitoring, proper storage of leftover foods, and proper food holding techniques. Ensures proper use of hair nets, hand washing, aprons, gloves, and other sanitation techniques. Assists in accurate preparation of required records and reports on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis, including meals served, inventory, and equipment maintenance as required. Assists the Kitchen Manager in maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies and food ordered and stored. Assists the Kitchen Manager in ordering meals, paper supplies, and other food supplies. Ensures proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of all food service equipment, including doing daily dishes. Covers the Kitchen "Café" in the absence of the Kitchen Manager. Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum requirements for this position are: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of one year cooking experience is required. Experience with inventory and ordering preferred. Knowledge of proper sanitation and food handling techniques. ServSafe Certification a plus. Ability to lift 30 pounds to move pans and supplies with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to follow basic cooking rules. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurements, volume and distance. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to clients, vendors, and Agency employees.
REPORTING
This position reports to the Food Services Manager
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION
Most duties and functions will be performed in a kitchen environment, although local travel to other CHEER locations is required to support programs and services as required in those locations.
WORK HOURS
Hours vary by location. Extended work hours may be periodically required to support programs and activities. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Full-time non-exempt (40 hrs./wk.)
