Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Charge Nurse to serve as an RN Supervisor for our overnight shift. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual with extensive clinical expertise and proven supervisory experience. The Charge Nurse will oversee patient care operations, coordinate nursing staff, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various clinical settings, including acute care, critical care, and long-term care environments, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient-centered care during overnight hours. Duties Lead and supervise nursing staff during the overnight shift, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment while assigned to medication cart on rehab unit. Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and comprehensive physical examinations to ensure accurate and timely clinical evaluations. Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and sterile processing to maintain safety and compliance standards. Ensure adherence to hospital policies, healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and long-term care regulations, and nursing policy compliance. Manage patient documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, including medical records, medical documentation, and ICD coding for diagnoses. Facilitate discharge planning, case management activities, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes. Monitor infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and equipment sterilization to uphold safety standards. Provide managerial communication to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and support staff for comprehensive patient care. Requirements Valid RN license with current state registration; prior supervisory or charge nurse experience required. Extensive clinical background with experience in critical & intensive care units (ICU), emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or medical-surgical units. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding is essential. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing nursing teams within acute care or long-term care settings. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and behavioral health. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities preferred; familiarity with dementia care or memory care is advantageous. Competence in performing venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV insertion, tube feeding management, and airway management techniques. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations along with state healthcare laws governing long-term care facilities. Ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively while maintaining excellent communication skills and team management capabilities.
