Non-Exempt General Summary and Objective:
The primary function of the Kitchen Supervisor is to oversee all aspects of meal planning, food prep, upkeep of kitchen space, and generally monitoring the maintenance needs of kitchen appliances. This includes acquiring ingredients and prepwork on Mondays, preparation and serving the meal at Tuesday Diner, overseeing the Saturday breakfast, as well as the overall acquisition, rotation, storage and distribution of food.
Essential Functions:

  • Plan and prepare Tuesday meals
  • Organize pantry inventory, stock rotation, and distribution
  • Pick up and distribute donations from various providers Statistics, Equipment and Regulations
  • Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, serving area, and pantries
  • Keep kitchen and pantry equipment maintained
  • Stays current with health code regulations and ensures compliance
  • Keeps meal and inventory statistics
  • Gain Servsafe certification (at employer cost) Volunteer Supervision
  • Supervises Diner volunteers, and staff on Tuesdays and Saturdays
  • Recruit and schedule Saturday and Tuesday Diner teams
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a sociable and Christian environment where there is respect and dignity for staff, volunteers, and patrons at The Potter's Wheel Diner
  • Cooperate with all other Potter's Wheel ministries
  • Communicates concerns, questions, and any pertinent information with the Operations Director
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Operations or Executive Directors Requirements (knowledge, skills, abilities, education, etc.
) The Kitchen Supervisor role is primarily a servant of the Lord. He/she should have a heart for ministering to the underserved. He/she must also possess a valid driver's license, excellent cooking skills, communication and management skills, be highly motivated, organized, and honest. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and social media. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is part-time, 20 hours per week. Flexible hours are required to accommodate ministry programming needs. Some weekend hours are required. A typical work week is roughly Monday 8:00 AM
  • 1:00 PM, Tuesday 8:00 AM
  • 3:00 PM, and Saturday 7:00 AM
  • 12:00 PM, and a monthly staff meeting held on Wednesdays.
Weekends and evenings when events/programming require. Travel This position will include driving to locations in a company or personal vehicle. Valid driver's license and excellent driving record is required. Additional travel may be required to attend training that is associated with this position.
