  • Passion Position Overview The Picnic Basket Lead is a seasonal hands-on leadership role that supports the daily operation of the Picnic Basket, Jellystone Park™ Grayling's food service area.
This position works closely with management to help lead the food service team, keep operations running smoothly, and ensure guests receive friendly, fast, and high-quality service. This is an ideal role for someone looking to grow into management. The Picnic Basket Lead sets a positive example for the team, helps train staff, supports food safety standards, and steps in where needed during busy service periods. Key Responsibilities Food Service Support & Leadership Assist in the daily operation of the Picnic Basket, including food prep, service, and closing duties. Serve as a go-to leader for Picnic Basket team members during assigned shifts. Lead by example by maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Help ensure food quality, portioning, cleanliness, and guest service standards are met. Scheduling & Shift Support Support management with daily staffing needs and shift coverage. Help assign daily tasks such as prep, grill, register, and cleaning duties. Step in to support the team during busy times, special events, and peak hours. Be flexible with scheduling, especially during weekends, holidays, and peak season. Team Training & Support Help train new team members on food preparation, equipment use, and guest service expectations. Reinforce food safety, cleanliness, and handwashing standards. Provide friendly coaching and guidance to teammates. Communicate concerns or improvement opportunities to management. Food Quality & Cleanliness Help ensure food is prepared and served safely and correctly. Monitor cleanliness of prep areas, service windows, and dining spaces. Assist with food storage, labeling, and rotation. Address minor food or service issues quickly and escalate larger concerns to management. Inventory & Supplies Assist with monitoring food, beverage, and supply levels. Help restock items and organize storage areas. Use supplies responsibly to minimize waste. Report low inventory or equipment issues to management. Guest Experience Provide friendly, helpful, and efficient service to guests of all ages. Help resolve guest concerns with a positive and calm approach. Support themed weekends, special events, and high-volume days. Share guest feedback with management to help improve service. Safety & Compliance Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Use kitchen equipment safely and properly. Help keep the Picnic Basket clean, organized, and safe. Support required safety checklists and cleaning routines. Administrative & Team Communication Communicate daily needs, issues, or successes to management. Help track completed tasks and cleaning duties. Support opening and closing procedures for the Picnic Basket. Qualifications Previous experience in food service, concessions, or a similar role. Interest in learning leadership or supervisory skills. Friendly, dependable, and team-oriented attitude. Willingness to follow food safety and cleanliness standards. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Able to work weekends, holidays, and peak-season hours.
Preferred Certifications:
ServSafe. Physical Qualifications Stand and be on feet for extended periods (4-8 hours). Lift and carry items up to 40 pounds (food supplies, boxes, equipment). Work in warm kitchen environments during busy service times. Bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Safely use kitchen equipment following training and guidelines. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
