Job Description

Job Summary The Cafe and Markets Shift Lead reports directly to the Cafe and Markets Manager and is responsible for overseeing operations of the assigned outlet during each shift. This includes the Elite Market & Smoothie Bar, Ocelot Cafe at the Livonia Medical Center, Main Street Cafe, and any additional outlets added in the future. The Shift Lead ensures smooth day-to-day operations, maintains high standards of customer service, and supports a positive and efficient work environment. Schoolcraft is a comprehensive, open-door, community-based college. Job Duties These are the job duties for the
Cafe and Markets Shift Lead:
Delegate tasks to employees to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service. Oversee the daily opening and closing procedures of the outlet. Maintain compliance with all ServSafe and food safety requirements. Conduct daily inspections of food quality and presentation. Perform inventory checks and restock supplies as needed. Balance and reconcile the cash register at the end of each shift. Keep the workspace clean, organized, and in compliance with sanitation standards. Greet, welcome, and engage with customers to enhance their experience. Train and support new employees to ensure proper onboarding and performance. Prepare food according to established recipes and service standards. Transfer food items between outlets and the main kitchen as required. Address and resolve guest complaints within the scope of authority; escalate when appropriate. Contribute to a positive, team-focused workplace culture. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma/GED. Minimum 18 years of age. Reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications A friendly disposition and the willingness to learn. Graduated Driver License Physical Requirements Schoolcraft College is an AA/EEO Employer.
Writing Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Communication Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
