Job Description

The mission of the No. 5 Bistro & Bar is to provide our guests with a unique and memorable dining experience, using only the freshest ingredients, the highest quality service and the company's rich history. A No. 5 Bistro and Bar shift lead is responsible for upholding the mission of the restaurant, overseeing daily operations during their assigned shift and setting the next shift up for success, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining our high standards, and leading the team effectively in the absence of a Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience
  • Ensure all guests receive the best possible service, proactively meeting and exceeding their needs by following No. 5 Bistro's Seven Steps of Service Address customer inquiries, complaints, and requests promptly and professionally Team Leadership & Management
  • Motivate, train, and provide guidance to crew members Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure efficient workflow Create a positive and supportive work environment Handle employee breaks and staffing adjustments as needed Operations & Standards
  • Manage opening/closing procedures, including equipment and processes Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards Monitor inventory, place orders, and control costs (labor, food) Perform hands-on tasks: food prep, serving, cashiering, cleaning Administration & Reporting
  • Handle cash management, transactions, and basic reporting Support business goals by maximizing sales and minimizing costs Qualifications & Skills
  • Pettis County Food Safety Permit (required) Previous restaurant/leadership experience (preferred) Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure and multitask effectively Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and coach a team
