Job Summary Join our vibrant school community as a School Nutrition Assistant, where your energy and dedication will help create a positive and nourishing environment for students. In this vital role, you will support the preparation, serving, and cleanliness of meals, ensuring that every student receives healthy, safe, and delicious food in a welcoming setting. Your enthusiasm for food service and commitment to safety will contribute to a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for all. Duties Assist with food preparation by following recipes and safety guidelines to ensure quality and consistency. Serve meals to students and staff in a friendly, efficient manner, providing excellent in-person customer service. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food service equipment through proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Handle manual tasks such as weight handling in the workplace, processing cash transactions, and operating POS systems accurately. Follow food safety management protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all food items. Support dietary needs by understanding dietary restrictions and assisting with special meal requests. Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages. Skills Previous experience in food handling, catering, or restaurant environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and food industry standards. Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on in-person interactions. Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management. Experience with culinary tasks such as food preparation and serving in hospitality or school settings. Familiarity with POS systems, manual handling techniques, and weight handling in the workplace.
