The Shift Supervisor Packaging plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the packaging operations within a manufacturing environment to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production output. This position is responsible for leading a team of packaging operators, coordinating shift activities, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Shift Supervisor will monitor production schedules, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflow and reduce downtime. They will also ensure that all packaging processes meet quality control standards and that safety protocols are strictly followed to protect team members and equipment. Ultimately, this role is essential for maintaining smooth packaging operations that support overall manufacturing goals and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Strong understanding of packaging bagger machinery and production processes. Ability to manage 3 lines of 24 employees with multiple change-overs and metal detectors. Monitor sorter set-up and quality inspections Monitor logs and documentation to ensure accurate information is being entered. Knowledge of workplace safety standards and quality control procedures. Ability to work weekends, and holidays as required. Regular schedule is 4:00pm - 1:00am with Sundays and Tuesdays off.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Manufacturing Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Bi-Lingual in Spanish and English Proficiency in open and closing orders in inventory management software. Certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Understanding of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP in the food manufacturing environment Proficient in MS Office such as Outlook and Excel and other related software.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily packaging operations during assigned shifts to meet production targets and quality standards. Lead, train, and motivate packaging team members to maintain high performance and adherence to safety protocols. Monitor equipment functionality and collaborate with maintenance teams to address any mechanical issues promptly. Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance procedures. Maintain accurate production records, prepare shift reports, and communicate effectively with management and other departments. Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in implementing best practices to enhance efficiency. Manage inventory levels of packaging materials and coordinate with procurement to avoid production delays. Attend Employee and Safety meeting and conduct employee pre-shift huddles. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Bend to grasp objects and ability to climb ladders Bend and lift loads not to exceed 50 pounds unassisted or 100 pounds with assistance Work in very hot temperatures (>90 degrees F) seasonally Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays Ability to work in a noisy environment while being exposed to wheat flour and gluten.
