Key Duties Oversight & Administration Plan daily/weekly staffing coverage and prep assignments; maintain nourishment/floor stock inventory and PAR levels. Supervise contract staff on assigned shifts; coordinate directly with the VA COR/Food Operations Manager. Oversee and verify FSW performance of floor stock, sanitation, and ware-washing tasks for compliance with PWS and FDA Food Code standards. Enforce uniform, hygiene, and conduct standards. Respond to and help correct findings from VA quality inspections (TJC, VHA, OIG/CMS). Track staff certification/training currency (ServSafe, fire safety, HIPAA). Report equipment issues, supply shortages, or compliance concerns up the chain.
Nourishment / Snack
/ Supplement Preparation (shared with Support Cook) Prepare snacks, nourishments, and floor stock items per PAR levels, LEAF orders, phone requests, and recipes. Follow recipes exactly, accounting for modified diets, allergies, and texture/IDDSI requirements. Use knives, mixers, blenders, and slicers safely. Follow safe food handling/HACCP practices per the 2022 FDA Food Code. Practice "clean as you go"; keep cardboard boxes out of the work area. Clean and sanitize trayline/tray holders, tray assembly area, dining room, and worktables. Requirements Willingness to complete ServSafe Manager Certification after hire (company-arranged, before first day on site). Prior food service supervisory experience preferred. Must pass VA background investigation/PSAC (post-hire, company-sponsored) and obtain facility badge before start. 18+, legally authorized to work in the U.S., no disqualifying criminal history. Able to stand/walk a full shift and lift up to 35 lbs.
