Organization Overview Vanessa Behan is a nonprofit emergency childcare center serving children from birth through age 12. Children may stay for up to 72 hours while families navigate a crisis. Our mission is to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for children, strengthen families, and help prevent child abuse in our community. Position In this role, you'll lead a team of House Parents and volunteers while ensuring children receive exceptional care in a safe, nurturing environment. You'll serve as a coach, mentor, and shift leader, helping staff develop their skills while maintaining smooth nightly operations. Schedule & Hours This overnight position works: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM Includes 30 regularly scheduled package hours 3 administrative hours per week, including 2 flexible scheduling hours Opportunities are frequently available to pick up additional shifts What You'll Do As a Lead House Parent Supervisor, you will: Provide leadership and support to House Parents and volunteers during your shift. Ensure children's safety, well-being, and developmental needs remain the highest priority. Coach and mentor staff through observation, feedback, and hands-on support. Conduct shift briefings and facilitate communication between teams. Ensure accurate completion of documentation, reports, medication logs, and child records. Coordinate with Family Support Specialists and program staff regarding child care plans and transitions. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure environment. Support onboarding and development of new employees. Conduct monthly check-ins with direct reports and participate in staff development activities. Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and challenging situations. Qualifications Required:

Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED. At least six months of direct experience working with children, or relevant lived experience, or a combination of related and lived experience. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Ability to remain calm and effective in a dynamic childcare environment. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to obtain or maintain CPR and First Aid certification, Bloodborne Pathogens certification, and Food Handler's Permit Current on flu vaccine and Tdap vaccine Successful completion of background and fingerprint checks.

Preferred:

Two years of experience working with children in a childcare, crisis care, or related setting. Prior experience supervising or leading staff. Knowledge of child development and family systems.
