Floor Manager Development Pathway About Blue Plate Blue Plate (opening soon) is a modern American comfort diner serving breakfast all day, lunch, and a rotating lineup of lunch and dinner specials. Think golden waffles and skillet platters, fluffy omelets, benedicts, stacked pancakes, fresh salads, and hand-built burgers and sandwiches—the classics, done right, in a warm and energetic room. We're hiring a Lead Server to help set the standard for guest service while developing into future restaurant leadership. Responsibilities, Floor Leadership & Service Standards Set and uphold Blue Plate's hospitality standards during every shift. Lead by example through exceptional guest service. Resolve guest concerns professionally and create positive experiences. Monitor dining room flow, pacing, and table management. Opening & Closing Complete opening and closing procedures. Ensure stations are stocked and ready. Verify side work is completed accurately. Section Assignments & Expediting Assign server sections fairly. Run food and assist with expediting when needed. Communicate effectively with the kitchen regarding timing, modifications, and unavailable items. Training & Mentoring Train and onboard new servers. Coach team members throughout each shift. Reinforce Blue Plate's service standards. POS, Cash & Tip Handling Process payments accurately. Handle voids, discounts, and comps according to company policy. Reconcile cash drawers. Assist with lawful tip pool administration when applicable. Side Work & Communication Maintain clean, organized stations. Communicate effectively with hosts, bussers, kitchen staff, and management. Report staffing or operational issues promptly. Leadership Qualities We're looking for someone who is: Calm under pressure Reliable and organized A positive coach and mentor Accountable and dependable Interested in growing into management Qualifications 3+ years of full-service serving experience (high-volume breakfast/lunch or diner experience preferred) Previous Lead Server, Head Server, Trainer, or Shift Lead experience preferred Comfortable using POS systems and handling cash Outstanding hospitality and communication skills Ability to stay organized during busy rushes Reliable and team-oriented California Food Handler Card not required before hire. Blue Plate will pay for the course, exam, and your training time within your first 30 days. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. Physical Requirements This is an active restaurant position requiring the ability to: Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours Lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Bend, reach, stoop, and twist frequently Carry multiple plates and beverages safely Work around hot equipment, cold storage, moderate noise, and occasionally slippery floors Communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment Reasonable accommodations are available. Schedule Blue Plate serves breakfast all day, lunch, and early dinner.
Preferred availability includes:

Base Pay:
$20.00-$24.00 per hour , depending on experience and leadership background. Servers earn tips in addition to hourly wages. Tips vary based on business volume and are not guaranteed. Managers and supervisors do not participate in employee tips. Blue Plate pays for all required Food Handler training and compensates employees for training time. Paid sick leave provided as required by California law. Employee meal discounts and additional benefits discussed during interviews.
