A Waiter or Waitress takes orders and serves food and beverages to customers in restaurants. Answers customer questions about menu items, prepares checks and collects payment, and assists with clearing dishes and tables. May work in banquet or dining halls.
Shindigs Riverside is looking for experienced, energetic Servers to join our team. We're a country kitchen, bar, and live entertainment venue where great food and drinks are only part of the experience. We want our guests to feel welcomed, taken care of, and excited to come back. For our current openings, previous full-service restaurant serving experience is required . We're looking for people who already understand the fundamentals of serving and can bring those skills into the Shindigs environment. Experience gets you in the door, but attitude, reliability, teamwork, and hospitality are what will make you successful here. What You'll Do As a Server at Shindigs, you'll create a great guest experience from the moment a table sits down until they leave.
Your responsibilities will include:
Greet guests quickly and make them feel welcome. Provide friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable service. Confidently manage multiple tables during busy service periods. Learn and maintain strong knowledge of our food, beverage, specials, and promotional offerings. Take accurate food and beverage orders. Enter orders correctly and efficiently into the POS system. Properly course and time guest orders. Check back with guests and anticipate needs before they have to ask. Deliver food and beverages promptly when needed. Maintain awareness of your entire section throughout the shift. Keep tables, sections, and service areas clean and organized. Process guest payments accurately. Complete opening, running, and closing side work. Work together with bartenders, hosts, bussers, food runners, kitchen staff, and leadership. Help teammates when you see something that needs to be done. Follow Shindigs policies regarding responsible alcohol service, food safety, cleanliness, uniforms, and workplace conduct. Maintain a positive and professional attitude—even when we're busy. What We're Looking For Applicants should have at least 1 year of recent serving experience in a full-service restaurant environment. We're looking for Servers who: Already understand the fundamentals of full-service restaurant service. Can confidently manage multiple tables at the same time. Know how to prioritize tasks during high-volume service. Understand proper steps of service and table maintenance. Can accurately take, enter, and manage guest orders. Are comfortable recommending and upselling food and beverages without being pushy. Genuinely enjoy interacting with people. Understand that hospitality means more than simply taking an order. Stay friendly and composed during busy or stressful shifts. Show up on time and ready to work. Communicate clearly with guests, coworkers, and the kitchen. Take coaching well and want to continue improving. Notice what needs to be done without always being asked. Understand that great restaurant service requires teamwork. Bring a positive, professional attitude to every shift. High-volume restaurant, bar, or entertainment venue experience is a plus. Schedule Shindigs is busiest when everyone else is having fun, so strong evening and weekend availability is important for this position. Applicants should be available to work a combination of: Evenings Friday and Saturday nights Weekends Holidays Special events Live music and entertainment nights Availability and business needs will determine scheduling. Requirements Minimum 1 year of recent full-service restaurant serving experience required. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of restaurant steps of service. Must be comfortable managing multiple tables in a fast-paced environment. Must meet all applicable age requirements for the position. Must obtain and maintain required California food-handler certification. Must obtain and maintain RBS certification when required for alcohol service. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to carry trays, plates, beverages, and restaurant supplies safely. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
