Duties Assist with food preparation, serving meals, and ensuring proper presentation according to dietary guidelines. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, cleaning, and sanitation of kitchen equipment and dining areas. Support the dietary department by following specific dietary requirements for residents or patients, including special diets and nutritional needs. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while practicing safe lifting and manual handling techniques. Provide friendly, attentive customer service to residents, patients, staff, and visitors during meal service. Help with inventory management by receiving food deliveries, storing supplies properly, and maintaining accurate records of food handling. Follow workplace safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with JCAHO standards for healthcare facilities. Experience Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in food production, meal preparation, and food service environments. Knowledge of nutrition principles, dietary requirements for geriatric or healthcare populations, and food safety practices. Experience operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, dishwashers, or other culinary tools. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with working with geriatric patients or individuals requiring special diets is advantageous.
